Public Transport Around Nesebar — Buses, Taxis, and Getting Around

Getting around Nesebar without a car is easy. Town buses link Old and New Nesebar with Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas and Elenite, intercity lines reach Burgas, and taxi prices are capped by the Municipal Council. Here is who runs which service, what tickets cost in 2026 and how to get to the airport.
Who Runs the Buses and Where They Leave From
- The municipal lines in Nesebar Municipality are run by DS Bus (Ди Ес Бус ЕООД). The operator's office is at the Central Bus Station in Sunny Beach.
- The municipal bus station is in Sunny Beach, not in Nesebar. It is the starting point for intercity connections. Dispatcher and information: 0554 22633 and 0893 505218. Ticket office: 0554 24268.
- Regional and national bus lines are required by a Municipal Council decision to use the municipal bus station in Sunny Beach.

To and From Burgas Airport
Burgas Airport is 11 km north-east of Burgas. The Nesebar Municipality's official tourism site says it is about 30 km from Nesebar.
- By bus: Burgas city line 15 links the airport (Terminal 2) with the South bus station. From Monday to Saturday it runs from 5:10 to 23:00, every 15–20 minutes. Some services are numbered 15A and stop only at the roundabout by the airport. A Burgas city bus ticket costs €0.80 if bought on board, or €0.66 with the e-wallet. At the South bus station you change to line 10 or 22 for Nesebar.
- By taxi: a taxi company named on the airport's website operates at the airport.
- By organised transfer: according to the airport, most tourists travel on tour operators' coaches.
Taxis: Prices and Rules
With Decision No. 559 of 28 November 2025 the Municipal Council set the 2026 prices in Nesebar Municipality:
- day rate per km: from €1.28 to €2.30;
- night rate per km: from €1.28 to €2.56;
- number of taxis in the municipality in 2026: 520.
Under the national Ordinance No. 34 on taxi services:
- the driver must switch on the taximeter and take the shortest route, unless the passenger asks otherwise;
- after the ride the driver must issue a fiscal receipt;
- a price sticker must be on the right of the windscreen, on the dashboard and on the windows of both rear doors;
- the sticker shows the day and night price per km, the call-out fee and the starting fee, which is two to three times the minimum price per km;
- the price per minute of waiting may not exceed 50% of the price per km.
The UK government advises travellers to check the licence sticker and the tariffs on the window before getting in. It also warns of regular reports of robberies and threatening behaviour by taxi drivers in Sunny Beach. Use the taxi ranks designated by the municipality. In Old Nesebar there are ranks by the port, on Mesambria Square and on the North Alley. Always ask for a receipt.
On Foot and by Bike
Old Nesebar is a peninsula about 850 m long and 350 m wide, best explored on foot. From spring until mid-November cars may enter only with a pass, so park outside. The rules and prices are in our guide to staying and parking in the Old Town.
New Nesebar is right next to the isthmus and is also easy to walk around.
Train and Car Hire
- Train: Nesebar has no railway station. The nearest is in Burgas, about 35 km away, at 1 Ivan Vazov Blvd.
- Driving licence: if your licence was not issued in the EU, check whether you need an International Driving Permit. For example, the UK government says that with a UK photocard licence you do not need one in the EU.
- Boats: for 2026 we found no officially announced regular sea service from Nesebar to Sozopol, Burgas or Sveti Vlas. If you are offered one, check the operator.
